Ionic Flux acquired by FatdaddyMore than 5 years ago Ionic Flux started revolutionising how far and how long we could use bearings. Now we are a full grown company with multiple intellectual properties, a great retail base and our own custom recipes.
Today, after many weeks of secret meetings and talking about our future, we’re thrilled to announce that we have been acquired by Fatdaddy.
Fatdaddy is the biggest retailer in the Europe for personal electric vehicles like skateboards, scooters, ebikes and more.
You’re probably thinking..
“Great! I finally find a lubricant that will not only keep my bearings in excellent running condition but also makes sure they don’t overheat to extend bearing life, and now it’s getting bought out and gobbled up.”
The complete opposite is happening.
We decided to join the Fatdaddy team because they see Ionic Flux as the best lubricant on the market. And want to help us become a lubricated machine that keeps on redefining the way we roll (see what I did there?). With the help of Fatdaddy and their Fatdaddies we will develop new products, mix new solutions and make sure that we can help you with more than just lubricants. What about my retailership, will the prices change?Everything will remain exactly as it is. We only ask you to check if your information is up to date on our dealer locator. We would love to have your feedback on our products, services or anything Ionic Flux related. You can do this by simply replying on this email. I will read them all personally. Chris
Ionic Flux is advanced bearing oil using the latest nano and molecular friction reducing technology. Rain or shine, ride in every type of weather. We merge the sciences of speed and sport.
2016 is already rolling like hell, but before we go to that, we would like to take you on a ride for the 2015 recap!
The year starts off in the beautiful Quebradillas, Puerto Rico for the Guajataca Downhill. It was the very first International Longboard Race that Ionic Flux got as a sponsor, and man, that was worth it! Flux riders Emily Pross and Hector “Chino” Reyes got 1st place in their categories. Also, the parties were dope, and the vibe was legit.
In August, “Chino” was again on the podium in 6th place in the Junior category in Crash Boat Downhill. Way to go bro!
Every November, the Fiesta Island in San Diego receives the Adrenalina Skate Marathon. There’s a 3.5 hour limit for this 42km battle of fitness, endurance and skateboarding prowess. Thomas C Slager was aiming to keep his crown, and that was exactly what he did when he crossed the finish line first after 1 hour and 33 minutes. Ionic Flux Team Rider Harrison Tucker came in 5th with a time of 01:48:15.37.

During the whole year, we were able to ride along Emily Pross in some great rounds of IDF: Maryhill Festival of Speed, TMI Lilyhammer and Kozakov Challenge. With four wins and 5611 points, Emily Pross became the 2015 Women’s IDF World Champion. We will definitely look out for Emily this year where she will be defending her title and looking to improve on her groundbreaking 26th place overall finish in the open class. Oh yeah!

Oh wait, we have another IDF Champion: Guto Negão! Check Guto in action in Verdicchio Race and Mega Grand Prix. Until the last IDF round in Brazil, Mega Grand Prix, anything could happen, and on Nov 1st, Ionic Flux rider Carlos Augusto Correia Paixão pushed out in front for an unprecedented win by a Brazilian rider since the IDF’s creation. Parabéns cara!

Besides this amazing riders, we also had some great interviews with the team riders, sick tunes (playlists: Roll Like Hell, SK8 Life, Smooth Ride) and dope wallpapers (Got Grease, Hawk, Smooth Ride). If you want to submit a design (or an idea for one), click here to drop Chris a line.
Btw, have you meet Chris? You can view him talking aboutBlack Steel, longboarding, Estonia, childhood (!?) and cold water (!?) in this super interview that he gave for ISPO’15 along Abraham Paskowitz from Carver Skateboards and Jerry Madrid from Madrid Skateboards.
If you are curious to know how Ionic Flux Black Steel works, we have a foolproof tech infographic. Yeah science, bitch!
Also, you can go over the Estonian Longboard Scene to see where the inspiration comes and learn a little bit more about Ionic Flux homeland.

And what about 2016?
We already have some sick news: MapleZ is the official partner to the inline speed skating market to bring Ionic Flux to Inline skaters everywhere!
And the year is just starting to roll …
We spent 4 days at the Guajataca Downhill in Quebradillas, Puerto Rico. It was an amazing event with hundreds of riders, great parties, killer food, wicked slide jam and a ton of stoked islanders. Normally February in Estonia really sucks – so once we flew in to paradise in the Carribbean – it was totally worth it.
The event Organizer, Hector Valle (aka birdman) hosted us by hooking us up with a killer location by the sea. Our homies from Third Kind Beyond and Hi5ber were there to share in the fun.
This was our very first International Longboard Race we got to partake in as a sponsor. I have never seen so many janked up bearings in my life – but some of the kids out here were super stoked they didn’t have to buy a new set after hitting us up.
This trip we met some really great skaters, and made some new friends and got some of our very first riders.
To name a few of the wicked riders, they include Emily Pross (who won women’s division), Hector Chino and his Bro Gabriel Reyes. They were super supportive and really stoked to chill with us and show us around. Of course, legendary Kevin Reimer was there and he won men’s and open divisions. Our homeboy, Brandon Yarbrough dominated the Pool Session and everybody had a rockin’ good time.
The parties were dope, and the vibe was legit.
So, instead of boring you with my banter, check out some of these vids from the event.

This is Chris again from Ionic Flux. It has been a few long and grueling months since we last posted in the blog
We started our summer off with a nice ride from the guys at SurfiAed from Tallinn (www.surfiaed.ee). Enjoy this little edit.
In August we sponsored our first event in St Petersburg Russia. The Kavgolovo Slide Jam, Hosted by Nevsky Surf (www.nevskysurf.ru) and a few other local notable sponsors. It had a great turnout and a number of riders got free skate lube! 🙂 Here is a recap of the fun that played out with our homies across the border.
September was another blasting month
We kicked off the month with sponsoring an event in our hometown of Tartu Estonia. In cooperation with ET Longboards (https://www.facebook.com/etlongboards) who provided a first place prize board and Tartu RulaKool (https://www.facebook.com/groups/598183783627148/) who helped organize the event we had a nice little turnout and the event was a blast. Here is a recap of this gig.
After a hefty re-branding phase we began becoming engaged with the U.S. and Canada. We traveled across the Atlantic and participated in SurfExpo in Orlando Florida. . (www.surfexpo.com) and demoed Ionic Flux with Beercan boards (www.beercanboards.com). We had an amazing trip and experience.
After Surf Expo, things began to fall into place ever so slightly more. We met a ton of people, and found a new shop to carry some of our stuff. Got another sponsorhip opportunity with our good friend and partner Jake the snake at Sidewalk Surfshop (www.sidewalksurfshop.com) in Groveland Florida. We became a sponsor of the Poage Landing Days ConeFest slalom skateboarding event in Kentucky. Competitors got lubed up before the races. 😀
We became acquainted with Michael Brooke, boss man of Concrete Wave Magazine (concretewavemagazine.com) and founder the worldwide movement of longboarding for peace. http://www.longboardingforpeace.org/. It has been a rewarding experience, and also one which we wish to share in the baltic sea region, as this is where we are at, and we look forward to helping promote longboarding not only as a sport, but a way to bridge gaps in communities, and doing good for those in need.
October, back in Estonia, it was back to the crunch and daily grind of getting Ionic Flux packages ready to go and stocked up for the upcoming season. We finally released our first batch of stock and are ready to go all over the place. We were finally able to bring our entire product that we have been working hard on for many months into a final and complete piece of beauty. It really brings me great joy to know that the hard work of our great team and the support of our marketing partners has culminated into a unique opportunity to us to have come as far as we have come to this point.
